On this page you will find links to weather forecasting, nowcasting sites, and LINZ tide information.  Use the information they provide with confidence and prudence.  As always, the decision to go boating is your responsibility.  The links are listed alphabetically, and do not represent any preference.  Thanks go to the providers of this information for our use.
 
View prognosis and outlook charts from the Australian Bureau of Meteorology.  You'll find NZ in the bottom right hand corner of the charts.
   
 Buoyweather.com At this site you can view the wind and wave height prognosis for the Hauraki Gulf from the virtual buoy stationed to the NW of Little Barrier Island.
   

This link will take you to the LINZ website for tidal information for major & secondary NZ ports.  Type in the port & month you wish to view & click on the "submit" button.  These charts are not adjusted for daylight savings time.
   
The Metservice forecast for Auckland Harbour and the Hauraki Gulf.
   
The Metvuw site run by the University of Victoria.  Select New Zealand, Surface Wind, MSLP & rainfall.  Choose from 3 or 7 day thumbnails, then click on the outlook you want to view.
   
SwellMap 24 hour forecast.  This site gives you information about many different locations around the Gulf.  Click on "Marine" button and select the location you wish to view.  I.e. Inner Gulf.
   
In this weather site you can customise what you want to see.  Choose from hour by hour, weekend, 10 day outlooks etc.  NB.  The forecast area is for Auckland Airport and as such should be used as a general indication only.
   
Take a look at this site to see what the wind is doing in our area.  Select the region you want to look at from the map of NZ on the left of the page.  NB.  Take note of the last update time.  The data can be several hours old sometimes.
   
Windguru will give wind and wave height forecasts for the Takapuna area.
   
This clever site will give you pictures, and current wind data at various sites.  Of interest to us will be Takapuna and Orewa.  Scroll the page down and click on the camera link to view a picture of the site you wish to see, or click on the small chart that relates to the site you want to view data on.
